xDiarrhea is the passing of a watery stool and is quite a common complaint for kittens. It isn’t so much a disease as a symptom of something else or an indicator of an underlying problem and can be the sole symptom or come with others including loss of appetite, lethargy and vomiting. Understanding what the underlying problem is can help you understand if your kitten needs to see a vet or if there are changes needed to their diet or lifestyle. The Cat Language Bible
Diarrhea is classified into two categories - acute and chronic. Acute is when the condition comes on suddenly and is frequent while chronic comes on over a longer period of time and is intermitted; meaning not every time they evacuate their bowels is diarrhea, only sometimes.
Diet can be a chief cause of both types of diarrhea. For example, suddenly changing the food they eat can bring on diarrhea as can an intolerance or allergy to something in this new food. Eating something they shouldn’t have can also be a cause and kittens are generally very sensitive to changes in their diet so keeping them on the same diet as their breeder did is wise and making changes should be done slowly. Add 10% of the new food to the old food and gradually increase this percentage each day until the switch is complete, as this will allow their stomach to adapt to the new food and avoid an upset stomach. http://cruisecontroldietbookreview.com/the-cat-language-bible-review/
